Alexandre Pato has fuelled speculation that he will join Chelsea this summer by claiming he will only decide on his future after he has spoken with Carlo Ancelotti, the Premier League club’s new manager.
The Brazil international is a protege of the former AC Milan coach having been brought to the San Siro by Ancelotti as a 17-year-old in 2007. Pato, who is under contract at Milan until 2012, is currently preparing for the Confederations Cup in South Africa and revealed he will wait until the end of the tournament before deciding his next move.
“It’s an honour to be liked by a club like Chelsea,” Pato said. “With respect to my future, nothing has been decided yet.
“At the end of June, after the Confederations Cup in South Africa, I will meet with the Rossoneri executives and speak about my future. But before that happens, I will speak to Ancelotti.
“He is an extraordinary man. It’s thanks to Ancelotti that I have been able to emerge at AC Milan and in Italian football. Before I decide my future, I want to talk to him.”
