After their political careers came to abrupt ends, David Cameron opted for the quiet life writing memoirs while Ed Balls entered the world of showbusiness.
Yesterday the pair were spotted at holiday destinations that seemed to illustrated the gulf in glamour of their lives after politics.

Mr Balls, the former shadow chancellor who lost his seat at the 2015 general election, spent Saturday night at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump’s Florida residence, for a party celebrating the first anniversary of his presidency. Rather than demonstrating a dramatic ideological turn to the right, Mr Balls, 50, was filming a BBC travelogue entitled Ed Balls: My Deep South Road Trip.
The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant’s presence in Florida was revealed after he posed with Tina Hillstrom, a member of the “Real Women 4 Trump” campaign, and Toni Holt Kramer, a socialite and self-professed “Trumpette”. Few of the pair’s fans seemed to recognise Mr Balls, however. After Ms Hillstrom posted the photo on Instagram, one commented: “I can’t believe you know Toni Holt.”
Mr Cameron, meanwhile, was spotted keeping a low-profile at a damp Disneyland Paris.

The former prime minister, 51, was photographed wearing a flat cap and waterproof jacket in the rain. His wife, Samantha, is understood to have been in Paris working on her fashion label so Mr Cameron took their children to the theme park for the day.

They tried out Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, a simulator that is based in the Star Wars universe.
Unfortunately for Mr Balls, his visit to Florida meant that he missed Norwich City, the Championship football club of which he is chairman, lose 2-1 at home to Sheffield United. It is not known whether Mr Cameron managed to fit in a visit to Villa Park to watch Aston Villa beat Barnsley 3-1. But then again he did also say that he supported West Ham.
