Sir, I have been interested to read of the use of WD-40 and the treatment of arthritis (letters, Feb 2, 9 and 12).

Some members of the angling community hold that this spray is a powerful bait enhancer, and, if both theories are true, it would explain the blissful expression on the face of the rather elderly bream I hooked using this method in the Royal Victoria Dock last year.
