Cementing an already intense bond with their fans, the group fronted by the Requiem for a Dream actor Jared Leto enlisted thousands of them in eight countries to sing backing vocals on this third album. On what amounts to a tighter, more textured set of eyeliner indie-rock tunes than the group’s previous albums, the fanboy chorus helps highlights such as Hurricane, Alibi and the splenetic title track assume a dizzying sense of scale.
