ABOUT US
The Therapy Yard comprises a team of therapists offering therapies for individuals and couples to explore and overcome life, relationship and sexual issues.
Our team include counsellors and therapists working with a wide range of issues including relationship and sexual issues – many work within specialist areas within this field. Our associates undergo continuous professional development to ensure The Therapy Yard is at the forefront of up-to-date knowledge and expertise within our specialist field.
As such, all our associates have completed or are currently undertaking degrees or diplomas and attend CPD, seminars and conferences relating to our work. Some also teach within the field of therapy while others are media contributors.
We believe therapy should be available to everyone, so associate therapists in their final year of training offer low-cost therapy that is more affordable for those on low incomes, as well as discounts for students and key workers.
It’s really easy to get started, all you need to do is submit a self-referral through this website and we will match you with the right practitioner.

RELATIONSHIP
THERAPY
This is a therapy that focuses on understanding and navigating relationships to enable us to understand more about ourselves, and our relationships with others. It can help to work through difficulties when in crisis or to work more in-depth to gain the understanding and tools for happier, healthier relationships.
HOW IT WORKS
Therapy takes place in a confidential and non-judgemental space with therapists who are qualified and passionate about helping people. It is an opportunity to work through difficulties, understand more about yourself and your situation, while finding ways to cope, heal, grow, and improve the way you feel over time.
Sometimes we don’t know why we are feeling as we do, nor how to take the steps to move forward to a happier place. We may not have thought about how counselling or psychotherapy could help. Talking to and sharing your thoughts and feelings with a therapist can help to make more sense of what is happening and together find a way to work through it.
We understand how hard it can be to find time in busy schedules so we have therapists who can offer appointments throughout the week – daytime, evenings and weekends.
The Therapy Yard is a service that connects people in search of therapy to a suitable therapist, whether that’s online telehealth counselling and psychotherapy, or other therapeutic and psychological services.
OUR THERAPISTS
Our therapists may have different areas they specialise in or may use different theoretical approaches e.g. CBT, psychodynamic, person-centric, and integrative. The rapport and therapeutic relationship you have with a counsellor/therapist is key to achieving positive outcomes. As such, we think it’s essential that you choose the therapist that you would like to see – we are of course on hand to guide you to therapists depending on the issues you would like to work on. We are also able to offer low cost therapy with trainee therapists who are in their final year of training.
JOIN US AS AN ASSOCIATE
We are currently only taking on qualified psychosexual and relationship therapists and psychologists, who can offer in-person sessions in London, Brighton, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Oxford, Hertfordshire, Berkshire and Surrey.
Applicants must be a qualified psychosexual and relationship therapist (level 7), registered with COSRT, passionate, sex-positive, and hold an ethos of progressive pluralistic therapy approaches relevant to valuing the importance of every person – inclusive, respectful and affirming of gender, sexuality, relationship diversity, neurodiversity, race, religion and culture.
Our service complements your private practice ensuring you maintain your autonomy and uniqueness as a therapist – we see it as collaborating with like-minded, passionate and forward-thinking people.
We greatly value diversity so we encourage applications from all.

(SERVICE95)
Sex and relationship psychotherapist Miranda Christophers agrees the focus needs to be on “pleasure, not pressure”. “This could be thinking about what you find sexually interesting or pleasurable, or perhaps thinking about the context of when you last experienced sexual desire or arousal.
WHY MENOPAUSE DOESN’T HAVE TO MEAN THE END OF GREAT SEX
(WOMENS HEALTH)
‘Menopause has a physical effect on your vagina. It will probably become drier and be more sensitive, so you might experience painful sex’, says Miranda Christophers, a psychosexual and relationship therapist, plus proud ambassador for menopause platform Issviva.

COULD SELF-REFLECTION BOOST YOUR SEX DRIVE?
(WOMEN’S HEALTH)
Recent research, such as a study published in Scientific Reports, found that those who regularly use cognitive reappraisal skills – in other words, take time to interpret their feelings – around sex have heightened sexual desire and the effects were found to be particularly strong among women.
PLEASURE HAS NO AGE LIMIT – WE’RE STILL HAVING SEX IN OUR 80’S
(HUFFPOST)
We spoke with Miranda Christophers, a sex and relationships expert at Issviva, an online menopause platform about this and she said, “I have found that year on year there is an increasing number of people in the 65-85+ age group accessing therapy to explore how they can maintain, reignite or start a new sexual relationship.”
