RTE will be making a major schedule shake-up with radio shows and TV programmes interrupted across TWO days for special live broadcasting.

The station will be broadcasting the UK General Election results across their digital, TV and radio platforms from July 4 to July 5.

As ballot boxes open for UK voters, RTE viewers will be able to follow all the results on RTE's dedicated TV and radio elections results programming, alongside their digital platforms.

The broadcaster will have live coverage from London, Belfast, Craigavon, Magherafelt and Dublin with in-depth analysis from our correspondents and journalists on what the results mean for the UK and their impact on Ireland.

New London Correspondent Tommy Meskill will be joined by RTE News’ Fiona Mitchell reporting live from the UK capital, with RTE’s Northern Editor Vincent Kearney and Northern Correspondent Conor Macauley reporting on the overall impact of results across Northern Ireland. 

RTE One will start their election coverage on Prime Time at 9.35pm on July 4 with a whistle stop tour of the UK, travelling from Scotland to London to show the issues in this election.

Prime Time will run for an extended show period till 11pm as opposed to 10.15pm.

On RTE Radio One at 9.45pm there will be a Special Election programme featuring comprehensive coverage of the election count in Britain and Northern Ireland.

This will take over John Creedon's usual 8pm-10pm show on the radio station.

Colm O' Mongain will co-present from Belfast and analyse the results from Northern Ireland's 18 Westminster constituencies, as they come in from RTE Radio's team of reporters in count centres.

As voting ends at 10pm, Prime Time will bring the results of the UK nationwide exit poll.

At 11pm, RTE One and RTE Player will continue on-air until 4.00am where there will be live television results coverage on UK Election 2024. 

Never Mind The Ballots Election Countdown

This will cause a shake-up to usual late night television including new series Path To Paris at 10.15pm, crime drama Hidden Assets at 11.15pm and drama series Love & Death at 12.30pm.

Lottery game show Telly Bingo will also be interrupted by live coverage at 1.30pm alongside Dr.Phil at 2.35pm and Euro News from 3am to 4am.

On Friday morning, July 5, RTE Radio One's Morning Ireland will broadcast an extended show, starting at an earlier time of 6am instead of 7am.

RADIO REPLACE

RTE Raidio na Gaeltachta current affairs programme Adhmhaidin will also broadcast an extended edition of the show live from Belfast from 7am, as opposed to 8am.

Fan favourite, Today With Claire Byrne's 10am show on RTE Radio One will be interrupted with full post-election coverage and analysis, as a new government is formed at Westminster.

At 12pm Sharon Tobin will present a 90-minute special television programme, UK Election 2024, on RTE One. 

This will take over popular daytime soap Doctors which usually airs at 12.10pm and lottery game show, Telly Bingo at 12.45pm.

At 1pm  RTE Raidio na Gaeltachta;s Nuacht a hAon with Máirín Ní Ghadhra will be extended until 3pm with live coverage, making Saol na Mban disappear from air for one day.

Nuacht RTE will also have detailed election coverage as Gaeilge.

RTE One’s  Six One News  on Friday will have the latest developments as David McCullagh co-presents the programme from outside the Houses of Parliament in central London.
