Man, 20s, rushed to hospital after receiving ‘serious injuries’ in late-night assault outside Dublin takeaway

Gardai have issued an urgent plea to the public

A MAN, aged in his 20s, was seriously injured in a late-night assault outside a Dublin takeaway in the early hours of this morning.

The scene, which is close to where a man lost his life after being assaulted in a separate incident last year, is currently being examined by Gardai.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to a premises in Ongrar, Dublin 15 shortly after 12:30am after receiving a report of an assault.

The man in his 20s had sustained "serious injuries" and was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.

The scene is currently preserved for technical examination and Gardai confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

They have urged anyone who may have any information or may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

"Anyone with any information that can assist Gardaí with this investigation are asked to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."

They added: "Gardai received a report of an assault at a premises in Ongar, Dublin 15, shortly after 12:30am on Monday 10th June 2024.

"A man in his 20s received serious injuries and was taken to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. The scene is currently preserved for technical examination and investigations are ongoing."

Aaron Keating, aged in his 40s, lost his life after suffering stab wounds in a separate assault in the area in June of 2023.

John Mulrooney, 18, of Manorfield Green, Clonee, Dublin, remains before the courts accused of murdering Aaron Keating on 13 June at Main Street in Ongar.
