And despite admitting that there had been plenty of happy moments in the business, chef's Gabriella and Letícia said running the business was both "physically and emotionally exhausting".

Taking to Instagram yesterday, they confirmed that the business would be closing permanently after just eight months of operation.

They said: "We are here to announce that we are closing our restaurant permanently. I want to thank all of our customers.

"Our passage was quick but it was very intense and full of love.

"It was a childhood dream that came true."

The restaurant aimed to bring a taste of Brazil to Ireland and was known for its South American cusine.

Da Silva was famed in particular for items on the menu such as their Brazilian crepes, sandwiches, cuszcusz and duck rice.

Chef Gabriella and Chef Letícia hailed the "happy moments" and "great learning experience" that the business brought to them - but admitted that it took a toll at times.

‘Heartbreaking decision’ for Irish cafe with ‘no choice’ but closure after facing high costs

The post continued: "It was also physically and emotionally exhausting.

"And as the human beings that we are, the body couldn't handle it."

And despite the sad news of the closure, the business owners confirmed that they would come back in the near future.

They added: "So its time to take care of your health and heal! Respect time and come back strong.

"When everything passes, we will be back on our feet, ready for another adventure! Thanks."

ANOTHER GALWAY CLOSURE

Separately, customers of a popular Irish cafe have been left devastated after the business confirmed that it closed its doors for good last weekend.

The Briar Cafe in Oranmore Business Park, Co Galway opened in 2022.

The cafe was a popular Galway spot for food, sweet treats, coffee and smoothies.

Sharing a heartfelt message with their customers on social media, the cafe announced they would be closing their doors for the last time on May, 11.

And the heartbroken owners confirmed that they made the decision after being faced with rising costs and staff shortages.

They said: "Sadly with rising costs of everything and staff shortages it is not possible to stay open.

"We would like to thank all of our customers for your continued support and most importantly our great staff for the last year and a half - we couldn’t have done this without you."
