He was born on September 27, 1947, in Dallas, Texas.

The singer's nickname started in school.

"The 'Loaf' half of his name didn't come about until the rocker was in eighth grade. He says it was coined by a coach, who yelled, 'Get off my foot, you hunk of meatloaf!' when the teen accidentally stepped on him," writes Little Things.

"Clearly, the name stuck - and ended up following him even after he became famous."

The singer passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022. He was 74.

Why is he trending?

Meat Loaf is trending after Ivanka Trump accidentally tagged @RealMeatLoaf as opposed to her father @realDonaldTrump in a picture on Twitter.

US Senate runoff elections took place in Georgia on January 5, 2021, in which the result decided which party will control the Senate.

CNN's DJ Judd tweeted: "One assumes Ivanka Trump did not mean to tag Grammy-winning musical artist Meat Loaf in the selfie she took with the President aboard AF1, en route to tonight's rally in GA, but at this point in the cycle a surprise Meat Loaf appearance wouldn't even be *today's* weirdest thing."

Podcast host Kathleen Smith asked: "Okay but has anyone ever seen Trump and Meatloaf in the same room at the same time?"
