Jodie - star of BBC's hit show Killing Eve - leads the film's star-studded cast alongside Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jack O'Connell.

Scenes from filming in Northumberland showed dishevelled Jodie fleeing a pack of blood-thirsty zombies.

Shots showed the hordes besieging a roadside cafe as survivors hid inside.

But in another shot, Jodie appeared to get the giggles at some of the near naked living dead characters.

The new 28 Years Later film follows the classic 2002 movie starring Peaky Blinders actor Cillian Murphy.

He's returning as an executive producer - and will even appear as original character Jim "in a surprising way", according to Sony Motion Pictures chairman Tim Rothman.

Speaking about her new film project, Jodie said: "Having met Danny [Boyle], he's incredibly sure and confident and innovative

"As an actor to be on a set with someone like that who's leading the charge is so exciting.

"I remember seeing 28 Days Later and I was so struck with how it was so rooted in reality, and it was more about the exploration of us as a species and our behaviour and how we react.

Forgotten Cillian Murphy film soars up Netflix charts - despite terrible reviews and Rotten Tomatoes score

"It felt like there was a lot of emotional truth within the film that really anchored it. That's also what I felt when I read this script."

Meanwhile, Cillian says the 22-year-old movie is the only one of his films he watches back.

"I never watch my own films, except that one. I have great affection for it."

He added: "I can't give much more at this point, but I've always said I would love to be involved because that movie changed everything for me.

"It's always on around Halloween and during the pandemic people were constantly sending me clips.

"And I've shown it to my kids. It's really stood up, even though it's 22 years old now."

Jodie Comer's rise to stardom

JODIE Comer's big break came when she was cast as Villanelle in Killing Eve back in 2017.

The show then hit our screens in 2018 and ran for four seasons.

The series also saw her win a BAFTA and an Emmy for the role.

A 2015 version of Lady Chatterley's Lover brought her first taste of original BBC drama, before she landed the lead role in Thirteen, about a girl who reappears after being abducted thirteen years previously.

In 2016 she played "other woman" Kate Parks, a university graduate, in Doctor Foster, opposite Suranne Jones and Bertie Carvel - she returned to the role again in 2017.

The following year she appeared as Elizabeth of York in The White Princess, a sequel to the BBC series The White Queen.

In June 2020 she starred in Alan Bennett's Talking Heads.
