Who is Steve Wright's ex wife Cyndi Robinson?

During his life Steve Wright was only married once and that was to Cyndi Robinson.

The pair met while working with DJ Mike Read at independent radio station in Reading in 1976.

Steve said: "Thinking us a couple of silly DJs, she did not want to do it and was fairly hostile and aggressive.

"I was attracted to that. I thought, 'Great, give us some stick'."

Any hopes of romance were scuppered by a move to Radio Luxembourg.

He returned to Britain in 1980 to join Radio 1 and pursued Cyndi once more and they became a couple.

Steve recounted the moment he knew Cyndi was the one to The Mirror: "

We were watching the Mike Leigh play Abigail’s Party on television when I looked at her and just thought: ‘I love this woman’.”

"I didn't plan to do what I did. It was just reckless adrenaline."

On July 9, 2024, it was revealed that Steve had died from ruptured stomach ulcer.

The radio star's death certificate states that the causes of death were acute peritonitis and a perforated gastric peptic ulcer.

What is peritonitis?

Peritonitis occurs when the inner lining of the stomach becomes infected.

This lining is called peritoneum, hence the name, and it covers vital organs such as the liver, bowels and kidneys.

If the lining becomes infected, then this can obviously cause complications and can affect the organs too.

It is potentially life threatening when left untreated.

There are many different causes for peritonitis, one of which is a perforated ulcer, which is a rare complication of an ulcer which causes the stomach lining to split, making it vulnerable to infection.

Other causes are burst appendixes or even digestive problems, such as Crohn's disease or diverticulitis.

Pancreatitis, pelvic inflammatory disease or even an injury to the stomach can contribute towards the dangerous condition.

Cirrhosis is another, as is general surgery on the stomach area as it leaves the area prone to infection.

If you suffer from any of the following, the NHS advise that you get an urgent GP appointment or visit A&E:

  • sudden tummy pain that gets worse when touched or you move
  • a very high temperature (you feel hot and shivery)
  • rapid heartbeat (your heart is beating more quickly than normal)
  • not been able to pee or are peeing much less than normal

A lack of appetite and are feeling or being sick and a swollen tummy are also less obvious symptoms that come with the infection.
