Shannen Doherty recalls distressing run-in with member of the public who thought she could get radiation poisoning from cancer sufferers
The Charmed actress has been using her social media pages as a diary throughout her cancer treatment
BRAVE cancer fighter Shannen Doherty has revealed the shock treatment she received from a stranger who thought she could "catch" radiation from her as she undergoes the therapy.
The 45-year-old actress, who was diagnosed with the aggressive disease in 2015, has been keeping fans up to date with her progress via her Instagram page.
On Thursday, as she shared a picture of her and her husband Kurt Iswarienko in their car on the way home from her latest round of therapy, she posted a story revealing a stranger's horrified reaction to her therapy.
She wrote: "Driving home from radiation with my love @kurtiswarienko. Today, we were in an elevator and I was asked how I was feeling. I responded by saying that I had just gotten a radiation treatment so therefore very tired.
"The random girl on the elevator with us physically lunged away as far as she could. She then proceeded to look horrified for the next 3 floors.
"Just a heads up.... 1. You can't catch it 2. The radiation won't leak out of me and go into you. Hope that helps. #cancertruths from the #cancerslayer"
The star has remained strong throughout her battle and has worked to post all sides of her cancer treatments - including the good and the bad days.
Having completed chemotherapy, Shannen started radiation therapy in November.
As she started the new therapy, she admitted: "Radiation is frightening to me. Something about not being able to see the laser, see the treatment and having this machine moving around you just scares me.”

She added: “I’m sure I’ll get used to it but right now…. I hate it. #radiation #radiationmondaysucks #stillfightinglikeagirl”.
Despite the tiring efforts Shannen has been put through as she continues her cancer battle, Shannen has been sure to also post positive and optimistic mantras in order to inspire others.
On positive days, she was seen dancing and exercising with her loved ones, who have stuck fiercely by her throughout the long treatment days.
Back in August, Shannen posted a simple picture of her sitting at the edge of her bed, and used a quote from a poem by R.M. Drake to display her fighting instinct.
It read: “She was fierce, she was strong, she wasn’t simple. She was crazy and sometimes she barely slept. She always had something to say. She had flaws and that was ok.
And when she was down, she got right back up. She was a beast in her own way, but one idea described her best.
She was unstoppable and she took anything she wanted with a smile.”
In another post, she wore a bright pink wig with her husband and friend as she swore to the camera and wrote: "Cancer is like a book with so many pages you don't see a way to read through all of them at once. But when you take them one page at a time, a story emerges and takes shape in unexpected ways.
"The outcome isn't clear or easy to reckon with, but you find as you go through the journey that a clear outcome isn't the point. The journey is the thing. The people you connect with along the way are the point. It's about human energy. It's about breathing.
