Jacob, 55, lost his seat in the General Election last week and the camera crew following him and his brood captured all of the action.

A source said: “Jacob and his family have been filming for the last couple of months but no one expected the General Election to be announced.

“It was gold for the show however and gave a real insight into what family is like for working MPs.

“His son Peter is really keen to make a name for himself in TV so he has been front and centre.

“Basically it’s being sold as the British version of the Kardashians and will be warts and all.”

The team working with Jacob are said to have been bowled over by his “kind and warm” personality.

A number had reservations about working with the Conservative party member because of his views on gay marriage and abortion.

The source added: “The crew are all so surprised by how much they love Jacob.

“They said he is really charismatic and they have struggled to tell their anti-Tory mates that he’s actually a total treat to work with.”

Jacob’s children will all appear on screen, along with his wife Helena and their nanny from their home in the West Country.

His children, Peter Theodore Alphege, Mary Anne Charlotte Emma, Thomas Wentworth Somerset Denton, Anslem Charles Fitzwilliam, Alfred Wulfric Leyson Pius and Sixtus Dominic Boniface Christopher have also been a “delight” for the crew to work with.

Jacob previously caused outrage after admitting he had never changed one of his children’s nappies when they were small, saying: “I think a lot of men try to avoid changing nappies. I don’t think I’m alone in this.”

He is a devoted father however and said of his parenting style: “Before I had children, I thought I’d be the Victorian paterfamilias: I would see the children at teatime and tell them how wonderful they are.

“Now, the children have me wrapped around their little fingers. I do everything they tell me, like sitting in the car on the drive with the engine on and one of the two little boys wiggling the steering wheel round for hours on end.

“Or playing cricket with the bigger ones. Or taking my little girl to Crufts, because she’s dog mad.”
