A MAN was knifed in the face tonight as football thugs clashed in the streets ahead of the Everton versus Millwall FA Cup match.
The victim was treated by paramedics, while a man unconnected to the attack has also been arrested for possession of a bladed weapon.
Footage shows brawlers throwing punches in front of Surrey Quays station before Millwall and Everton locked horns in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The violence quickly escalated as dozens of other fans joined in within seconds of the brawl breaking out.
At one stage, a man is seen falling to the ground clutching his face - sparking speculation on social media he was the victim of the stabbing.
Police officers, supported by a mounted patrol, quickly intervened and had to use batons to separate the two groups.
A Met Police spokesperson told The Sun Online: "At around 16:42hrs officers became aware of a large group of males fighting in the Hawkstone Road area.
"One male aged in his 20s was discovered suffering from a slash wound to the face. He was taken by LAS to a south London hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.
"A crime scene remains in place. Officers worked to separate the groups with support from the Mounted Branch. At this early stage, there have been no arrests.
"Detective Inspector Darren Young, of the South Central Command Unit, said: “The behaviour of those involved in this incident is nothing short of disgraceful and those involved can be certain we will be working to identify them.
"We are aware of the video circulating online, which has quite rightly elicited shock and disgust. We are looking at it and urge anyone with information that could assist police to call 101 referring CAD 5117/26 Jan."
According to more unverified footage, at least one supporters' coach was damaged by Millwall fans during the chaotic scenes in London.
And Everton fans were also recorded gathering outside a pub containing Lions supporters as police blocked them from crossing the road.
Missiles were thrown between the two groups though it's not thought the standoff turned violent.
It was not the only brawl that kicked off during Saturday's FA Cup fixtures. QPR and Portsmouth players were involved in a 22-man melee following their 1-1 draw at Fratton Park.
