King Charles is hiring staff to work on banquets at Buckingham Palace… but you need good taste

THE King is in the market for a new member of staff to work on royal banquets - but applicants will need good taste to land the role.

A successful candidate would soon find themselves instrumental in how the major state events run, while the job ad says "no two days will be the same".

Buckingham Palace put out the call for a new Purchasing and Administration Assistant, whose job it is to make sure that the food for the banquets is ordered and up to scratch.

They will work with external suppliers to buy "fresh and high quality" produce, which will ultimately find its way onto the plates of the King and his honoured guests.

The job hopeful will also be in charge of ensuring that all royal staff eat healthily.

Anyone can apply, as long as you think you can handle the responsibility for keeping the King himself well fed.

The role, in the Master of the Household's Office, required 40 hours per week and will involve spending two months each year at other royal residences.

So trips to Sandringham and Windsor Castle are on the cards for one lucky candidate.

According to the ad, it also offers a "competitive" salary.

The advert reads: "Joining this professional and close-knit team, you'll co-ordinate the purchasing of food for a wide range of events and catering needs, from daily catering for employees to State Dinners.

"You'll get a real insight into the workings of this fast-paced environment...No two days will be the same.

"In everything you do, you'll help the team to deliver exceptional food for every occasion."

Some experience in admin is preferred, as is familiarity with ordering food and drink professionally, but there is no essential experience listed.

Applicants also have to be comfortable with their computer skills and able to work to deadlines.

Describing the type of person the Palace is looking for, the ad continues: "Collaborative and professional, you'll enjoy liaising with a wide variety of internal and external people, using your communication skills on a daily basis.

"At ease working as part of a team and with a willingness to help others, you'll quickly become a trusted and indispensable member of the team.

"Most importantly, you have a clear passion for food and the catering industry, and take pride in delivering work to the highest standards."

Interviews are set to take place this month and the application is available online on the royal household website.
