‘PUNCH KIM ON THE NOSE!’

Guam leader urges Donald Trump to hit Kim Jong-un as South Korea begs the US not to go to war with North Korea

GUAM’s leader has urged Donald Trump to hit Kim Jong-un – while South Korea has begged the US not to go to war with the North.

The governor of the US Pacific island backed the American president’s strong rhetoric, insisting that “sometimes a bully can only be stopped with a punch in the nose”.

Eddie Calvo said he was grateful the US leader was taking a strong stance against North Korean threats to his homeland.

He told reporters: “Everyone who grew up in the schoolyard in elementary school, we understand a bully.

Kim Jong-un is a bully with some very strong weapons... a bully has to be countered very strongly.”

Trump was criticised after threatening Kim’s regime with “fire and fury like the world has never seen” last week.

He also tweeted to warn the US military was "locked and loaded" in another chilling threat last week.

But Calvo defended his fellow Republican, slamming suggestions from some quarters that he and Kim are as bad as each other.

He said: “There's only one guy that has vaporised into a red mist his uncle or a general because he fell asleep in a meeting with an anti-aircraft gun – that's Kim Jong-un.

“There's only one guy that's killed his brother with one of the most toxic nerve agents ever created – that's Kim Jong-un.”

But South Korean President Moon Jae-in today said there should never be another war in Korea and begged the US to resolve the crisis diplomatically.

The left-leaning leader – who has previously called for dialogue with the North – said: “There must be no more war on the Korean Peninsula.

“Whatever ups and downs we face, the North Korean nuclear situation must be resolved peacefully.

“I am certain the United States will respond to the current situation calmly and responsibly in a stance that is equal to ours.”

He also called on the North to “stop all provocations and hostile rhetoric immediately, instead of worsening the situation any further”.

Tensions have been rising in the region in recent months with an escalating war of words fuelled by Kim’s repeated missile and nuclear tests.

The dictator’s generals recently claimed three-and-a-half million citizens have joined the army as the country moves onto a war footing.

And satellite images of bases in the North emerged last week that appear to show the volatile state is overhauling its missile sub fleet.
