Police say the woman behind the wheel mistakenly hit the wrong pedal - sending her crashing through safety barriers on the top floor
SHOCKING footage shows a car's crash landing after a seven-storey plunge from a Texas parking garage.
Miraculously, the BMW driver escaped with only minor injuries after her car violently slammed into the floor and hit another vehicle below.
Police said the woman behind the wheel mistakenly hit the wrong pedal - sending her screeching through a safety barriers on the top floor of the complex.
The car ploughed into the building opposite before plummeting to the floor.
Dramatic CCTV footage shows a vehicle in the alley edge forward as it is struck by the falling car.
Bystanders can be seen rushing to help the driver after her car crumpled and rolled onto its bonnet.
William Burch was driving the car that was hit in the horror crash.
He said he starting moving forward when he heard commotion above.
"My window was down and I heard something really loud and abnormal, so I just started driving forward and the vehicle landed on the backside of the Tahoe," he told Fox 7 Austin.
Both Burch and the driver of the car that fell multiple stories survived the smash.
The driver was rushed to hospital but is expected to be okay, while Burch walked away totally unharmed.
"She was upside down. They had to pull her out from her seat belt and her head was bloody and they pulled her off to the side under the awning," Burch said.
Burch said he was told by police that he was lucky the car didn't come down on top of him.
Speaking to Fox 7, Austin Police Department Cpl. Christopher Carlisle said: "The retention cables didn't hold. The car went off the building, bounced off 515 Congress Avenue, fell and landed on a car that was going northbound in the alleyway before it hit the street."
He added that there seems to have been a flaw with the safety barriers.
The plunge happened on 13 July, but Austin police released the shocking footage on Thursday.
Local reports claim this is the second time a car has broken through the barriers at the Austin car park.
