Newlywed couple stunned to find their house turned into a ZOO by their prankster friends when they return from honeymoon

Rene and Marcelle van de Werken from the Dutch town of Nederhemert were gobsmacked by the joke

A NEWLYWED couple returned to their home after getting married only to find their friends had turned it into a ZOO in a prank that may have gone a little too far.

When Rene and Marcelle van de Werken returned from their honeymoon they found their entire home was filled with hay and confetti, while chickens and rabbits roamed through the house and garden.

Even the bath in their home in the Dutch town of Nederhemert was filled with goldfish.

But while most couples would go absolutely mad at all the cleaning involved, the newlyweds said they saw the funny side.

Rene said: "If you always laugh at these kind of jokes (when they happen to your friends), you should take into account that one day they will get one back at you.

"Of course we were shocked when we walked into the house, as it is ridiculous.

"Sleeping at home was out of the question, as the entire bed was full of hay. But the next day our friends came to help with the cleaning.

"It was a super day."

In the end the couple only had to clean the garden with a high pressure hose to remove the logo of Dutch football club Ajax from the grass, which their friends had painted as Rene is a big fan of arch rivals Feyenoord.

The couple said: "Everything now is clean again and nothing was broken. We found good addresses for the animals and the rabbits we kept ourselves, our children are very happy with it."

When the couple shared the pictures on social media they were picked up by the national press.

One social media user said: "You better say goodbye to friends who do such a thing."

Another wrote: "Oh how horrible this is. I don't see the humour in it.

"Outside, OK perhaps, but inside no."

Singer OllyMurs left Holly Willoughby and Louisa Johnson gobsmacked today as he pulled down his trousers and pretended to go for a poo on the floor of the This Morning studio.

The cheeky chappy stood up during his interview and began unbuttoning his trousers much to the surprise of Holly, Phillip Schofield and fellow singer Louisa.
