Radio DJ ‘bundled into car & tortured to death near Spurs stadium as girlfriend held hostage for two days by masked men’

Couple returned home from fancy dinner as 'killers' lay in wait after bugging car

A RADIO DJ was bundled into a car and tortured to death near Spurs' stadium while his girlfriend was held hostage for two days, a court heard.

Koray Alpergin, 43, had returned home from dinner in Mayfair with Gozde Dalbudak, 34, when the pair were kidnapped, it is said.

He was "frogmarched" into a white van and beaten to death before his naked body was dumped in woodland in Loughton, Essex.

Girlfriend Gozde was locked in the toilet of the kebab restaurant near Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for two days, jurors heard.

Koray, the owner of London station Bizim FM, suffered 94 injuries - including 14 broken ribs and severe head injuries.

A post mortem found he also had stab wounds to the soles of his feet and burn injuries to his skin.

Prosecutor Crispin Aylett KC said: "From the number and nature of the injuries that were sustained, the prosecution suggest that it is not hard to envisage a group of sadistic thugs taking it turns to inflict injury, whether with punches and kicks, hitting him with a bat, scalding him with boiling water or stabbing his feet.

"The only mercy, if mercy it be, was that the pathologist considers that Koray Alpergin could not have survived these terrible injuries for very long and certainly not for more than a few hours."

The horror unfolded in October last year as Koray and Gozde made their way home from a meal out in Mayfair.

His alleged killers had been lying in wait for the couple to return after installing a tracking device on his Audi.

Mr Aylett said: "As Koray Alpergin got out of his Audi car, a man ran towards him, that man was followed by three others, although Mr Alpergin tried to run away, they quickly caught him.

"He was frogmarched past his own car and bundled into a white van parked nearby.

"Ms Dalbudak had remained in the car, she was later to tell the police that she heard the sound of a scuffle.

"A masked man appeared at the window of the car, he had a knife, he told Ms Dalbudak to be quiet. She got out of the car and he led her over to the van.

"The van was driven away with Mr Alpergin and Ms Dalbudak in the back."

Koray, a well-known and popular figure in the British Turkish community, had been expecting trouble leading up the attack, the court heard.

He had asked a friend who left his house later that night to let him know if a white van was waiting outside.

Mr Aylett said: "Koray Alpergin must have had some idea of what was in store for him."

Jurors heard eight men had driven to the home in North London in two vehicles - a white van and a Volkswagen Polo.

Four men were previously convicted of kidnapping the couple, while two others fled the country.

Isay Stoyanov, 43, and Dylan Weatherley, 20, deny murder, two counts of kidnap and two of false imprisonment.

Jurors were told Kyle Mitchell-Peart, 31, has admitted two counts of kidnapping and two counts of false imprisonment.

The trial continues.
