Heartbroken mum’s warning to Snapchat bullies after her daughter, 14, is driven to suicide
Mum is urging parents to look for signs their kids are unhappy as she reveals she had 'no idea' her daughter was being bullied
A DISTRAUGHT mum whose daughter was driven to suicide has issued a warning to the Snapchat bullies who pushed her over the edge.
Megan Evans, 14, committed suicide after being subjected to abuse on the photo-sharing app.
Police are in the process of investigating the teen’s death in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire.
Her devastated mum Nicola Harteveld, 40, is now urging teens to think about the comments they make on social media.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, she said: “Be careful what you say, words can't be taken back.
“They may seem trivial or may be said in anger or jest, but they can't be taken back.
"You don't know how that person will take it so be mindful of someone else's situation.”
Speaking out in a bid to keep other families from going through the pain she lives every day, Nicola said teenagers constantly being on their phones exacerbates the issue.
She wants other parents to look for signs their children may be unhappy because she doesn’t want Megan’s death to “be in vain.”
The mum, who said she had “no idea” her daughter was being bullied, said: “They say you see signs, and looking back, there were.

“She was a budding artist and the content of some of her pictures, you can see she wasn't happy.”
An inquest into Megan’s death has been opened and adjourned while police inquiries continue, but there are no suspicious circumstances.
The teen’s family are in the process of arranging her funeral, and have asked Justin Bieber to send a gift for Megan.
The teen was a fan of the pop singing sensation, and had a VIP ticket to see him in June, where she hoped to get his autograph.
He mum, 40, wants to put signed Bieber memorabilia dedicated to Megan in her coffin.
She said her daughter “sobbed” when her VIP ticket arrived, and said she “lived and breathed” Justin Bieber.
She said she wants to see her dream “fulfilled”.
