Ivanka Trump shares pic of Donald’s face on Mount Rushmore after president said adding him would be a ‘good idea’
IVANKA Trump shared a photo of her father's smiling face on Mount Rushmore, months after the president said adding him to the monument would be a “good idea”.
The president's 39-year-old daughter tweeted the photo on Monday, with the caption, "Amazing photo of @realDonaldTrump during his visit to Mount Rushmore on July 3, 2020."
The photo shows Donald Trump's smiling face right next to the US' past president's, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
The photo by Ivanka is similar to the one her father tweeted back in August.
The New York Times reported at the time, that White House aides had reached out to South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem about adding Trump's face onto Mouth Rushmore.
A person familiar with the incident told The Times that, when Noem greeted Trump as he arrived to the state for his July Fourth celebrations, he did so with a four-foot replica of Mount Rushmore that included his face.
Noem noted that Trump told her it was his "dream" to have his face on Mount Rushmore.
According to a 2018 interview between the president and Noem, the two struck up a conversation about the monument in the Oval Office during their first meeting.
Noem initially thought Trump was joking, but quickly learned "he was totally serious".
"I started laughing," she said, "he wasn't laughing, so he was totally serious.
"He said, 'Kristi, come on over here. Shake my hand, and so I shook his hand, and I said, 'Mr. President, you should come to South Dakota sometime.
"'We have Mount Rushmore.' And he goes, 'Do you know it's my dream to have my face on Mount Rushmore?," Noem said.
Trump blasted The Times report and CNN's coverage of it and claims he never suggested the request, however noted that it would be a "good idea".
"This is Fake News by the failing @nytimes & bad ratings @CNN.
"Never suggested it although, based on all the many things accomplished during the first 3 1/2 years, perhaps more than any other Presidency, sounds like a good idea to me!," Trump said in his tweet.
However, during a 2017 campaign rally in Youngstown, Ohio, Trump again toyed with the idea of adding himself onto the prestigious monument.
"Every single president on Mount Rushmore - I'd ask whether or not you think I will someday be on Mount Rushmore.

But here's the problem: If I did it, joking, totally joking, the fake news media would say he believes he should be on Mount Rushmore. So I won't say it," Trump said at the time.

However, during his Fourth of July speech to supporters in South Dakota, President Trump defended Mount Rushing saying it will "stand forever as an eternal tribute to our forefathers, and to our freedom."
"As we meet here tonight there is a growing danger that threatens every blessing our ancestors fought so hard for," Trump warned.
