The new trend means stores are slashing prices to tempt you to spend on the day those wages hit your account.
Offers include 24 or 48-hour flash sales with up to 60 per cent off, and voucher codes that only work for a few days.
A spokeswoman for Vouchercloud.com said: “Payday is the perfect time to invest in the things you know you need, so you can keep your spending modest for the rest of the month.”
Many payday offers are on this week. Here is how to make the most of them.
- The trend is new to the UK so not every retailer offers it. If you want an item not on sale, ask customer services if they plan to offer a code and you may get an instant discount.
- Search online for payday voucher codes and check the end date. Many offers are only valid for a few hours.
- If you have seen an item you want, move fast. Stock on the top offers is often limited.
- Look for free delivery codes to save even more. Most retailers give them alongside discount vouchers.
- Shops ranging from Halfords to Boohoo.com have latched on to the trend. Offers include a Jaguar F-Type electric ride-on car, down from £120 to £45 at halfords.com, saving £75. Offer ends February 4.
- Manage your money properly. Never borrow to fund a payday purchase and make sure you have enough left to cover the rest of the month. If you miss out, do not worry. Stores will offer discounts next month too.
