Behind the scenes at the state banquet as Trump’s family take to Instagram and share candid snaps

All four of Trump's grown-up children attended the banquet

BUCKINGHAM Palace banquets are normally kept behind closed doors, with royal watchers only able to guess at what takes place.

However, thanks to the Trump family, fans have been given a rare glimpse behind the scenes of a state banquet.

All four of the President’s adult children attended the event at the palace on Monday night and all four shared snaps of their evening on social media.

Donald Jr, 41, Ivanka, 37, Eric, 35, Eric's wife Lara, 36, and Tiffany, 25, were dressed to the nines in ballgowns and coats and tails for the occasion.

And while they weren’t called to pose for official photos alongside the royal family, the Trumps were quick to pose for their own snaps.

Ivanka was a keen Instagrammer, showing off her sweeping Carolina Herrera gown.

She shared a snap of herself, her sister Tiffany and sister-in-law Lara posing alongside The Donald himself in a palace drawing room.

In a second Instagram post she and husband Jared Kushner smile for the camera in an informal shot that she captioned “Magical night at Buckingham Palace with my best friend!”

Elsewhere Tiffany shared a group shot of she and her siblings with a very personal message for the Queen on her Instagram story.

She wrote: “Thank you to Her Majesty the Queen for an incredible evening.”

Meanwhile Eric and his pregnant wife Lara shared some candid snaps of their own, including one touching shot that saw the father-to-be touching his wife’s bump.

Donald Trump Jr shared a snap of himself posing in his formal wear on the steps of the palace, looking pleased-as-punch and thanking the Queen for her hospitality.

He captioned it: “Such an incredible honor to be invited to Buckingham Palace with Her Majesty The Queen and the amazing Royal Family. Truly an experience of a lifetime.”

The photos certainly offer a glimpse of the palace that the public rarely sees.

As far as protocol goes, areas open to the public are allowed to be photographed.

The Buckingham Palace website explains: “Photography and filming including the use of wearable devices for personal, non-commercial purposes are not permitted inside the State Rooms.”

It is not clear whether the Trumps were in a state room or one that would be on display to the public during visiting hours.

The family is taking part in a three-day state visit which includes a D-Day commemoration as well as last night’s state banquet with the Queen.
