Modern dating is making it impossible for me to find the one

DEAR DEIDRE: Modern dating culture is making it impossible for me to find a partner.

Although I enjoy sex as much as the next guy, I’m not interested in ‘situationships’, dating multiple women at once or one-night stands - and I don’t subscribe to Andrew Tate’s sexist rhetoric.

The result is that, at 36, I’m still an unhappily single man.

I’d love to meet a woman the way my dad met my mum. They grew to become best friends and then got engaged.

They’re still together 40 years later.

I’ve always got on well with women - better than with guys my own age - but I regularly get friend-zoned.

People tell me I’m kind and likeable. But that doesn’t seem to be what women are looking for these days.

Social media bores me and is all about fake, airbrushed photos, and dating sites are too focused on appearance - so I stay off them.

How and where can I meet a lovely woman the old-fashioned way?

MORE FROM DEAR DEIDRE

DEIDRE SAYS: You’re not alone in your distaste for dating sites and social media hookups. Plenty of women feel the same.

If you want to form a relationship organically, the best thing is to join activities where you’ll meet like-minded women.

Rejecting Andrew Tate’s toxic rhetoric, is a positive step towards a meaningful relationship.

Think about your interests and then find local groups - perhaps sports, drama, walking or volunteering.

If you’re constantly friend-zoned, think about the signals you give out. Make it clear you’re interested in someone by asking lots of questions.

My support pack, Finding The Love Of Your Life, should help you meet someone.
