JUDY MURRAY gave a cool response on social media to the news that her son Andy was to be denied one last Wimbledon run in the mixed doubles.

The Scottish tennis legend was given a fitting and emotional send-off by the BBC and organisers on Thursday night when he and brother Jamie went down in their first round men's doubles clash against Rinky Hijikata and John Peers.

Three-time Grand Slam winner and former World No 1 Murray was unable to participate in the singles competition at SW19 after undergoing back surgery just TEN days ago.

But in addition to the men's doubles - he still had at least ONE match to play. Or so he thought.

That was after he announced his intention to partner up with US Open winner Raducanu with the pair due to play Marcelo Arevalo and Zhang Shuai on Court One on Saturday night.

But Raducanu, through to the fourth round of the ladies singles, informed the shocked Scot she was unwilling to play because of a sore wrist.

She's still involved in the women's singles competition, which will see her take on Lulu Sun on Sunday.

The rules leave Andy no chance to play with an alternative partner and it all seems a little unsatisfactory.

That's despite the fact she was spotted getting in her normal practice session in at Aorangi - wearing an England strip ahead of the big Euro 2024 clash with Switzerland.

A big backer of the doubles events, Judy's sarcastic comment will have been aimed as much at the Wimbledon schedulers as anything else.

But she certainly seemed less than impressed when she responded to a tweet from SkySports' tennis presenter Marcus Buckland.

Buckland wrote on X, formerly Twitter: "Astonishing news that Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her mixed doubles match with Andy Murray.

"She’s citing soreness in her right wrist.

"It means Murray has played his last match at Wimbledon. Oh dear!"

Respected coach and former Fed Cup captain Judy responded simply: "Yes, astonishing."

Fans had a mixed reaction to the row, with one saying: "Umm, maybe her team who advised against the Mixed Doubles despite the honour of playing with Sir Andy have had their way.

A second said: "She shouldn't have accepted and given him the chance to ask someone else."

A third said: "Oh no. Such a shame - but what a send off the other night! Wimbledon won't be the same without him."

But others took Raducanu's side of the story.
