SunSport exclusively revealed last month the minimum amount Celtic would have to pay to secure his services

Idah, 23, scored nine times in 19 games for the Hoops during his spell in Scottish football and ever since the season ended he has been linked with a return.

Now, according to Sky Sports, Celtic have made an official approach to the Carrow Road club regarding signing the Norwich City star on a permanent basis.

Celts boss Brendan Rodgers has been open in his desire to bring Idah back to Glasgow.

SunSport exclusively revealed last month that Norwich were looking for at least £5m for the forward.

That asking price could rise if other clubs become interested in the player, given he still has four years remaining on his contract at Carrow Road.

It's understood Serie A side Hellas Verona came close to a January loan deal before Idah agreed a move to Celtic.

Other teams in the Championship could also swoop for Idah.

Rodgers said of Idah after his Scottish Cup final heroics: "Hopefully very real. For me he was the catalyst of our season because we needed a different dimension up front.

"The big guy comes in, he has so much potential and played in some really important games.

"What I love about Adam is he is a big game player. He loves the big games and occasions. Hopefully we can do something.

Neil Lennon reveals Gordon Strachan's abrupt response to his Celtic retirement announcement

"He has a long-term contract at Norwich but he is definitely one I would love to bring back here. At 23 with the potential and quality he has I think he can really push on in his career."

He added: "I don’t know if we’ll get him in the summer, the board will look at it.

"My talks with Adam will remain private because there’s a lot of work to do. But he knows my feelings and so does the club so we’ll see what happens.
