A MAN has been charged in connection with a "suspicious death" of a woman at a home in Glasgow's east end.

Emergency services raced to Tummel Street in the Riddrie area at around 7.40pm on Thursday night.

Cops confirmed a 36-year-old woman had been pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers confirmed the death is being treated as suspicious and arrested a 32-year-old man.

He has now been charged in connection with an alleged assault.

The man is set to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday July 1.

We previously told how one resident of the street said: "A paramedic showed up and went inside. He was in there for about half an hour.

"A smaller ambulance showed up and then loads of police cars.

"We knew it was something serious when the forensics showed up."

Another local added: "I never heard anything. It's a really quiet street with not a lot of bother, nothing like this ever happens.

"I just remember closing the blinds at night and seeing all of the police cars."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a woman found seriously injured within a property on Tummel Street, Riddrie, Glasgow, around 7.40pm on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

“Emergency services attended, however the 36-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

“A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged assault.

"He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, July 1, 2024.”
