A BUSY stretch of a major Scots motorway is set for further disruptions as planned roadworks have been extended.

This scheme, delivered by Amey on behalf of the Scottish Government, is to enable the next phase of works of the M8 Woodside Viaducts.

The latest round of westbound works that began on Sunday June 23 will now run until Friday August 9 from, 10pm until 6am, each night, excluding Friday nights and Saturday.

The work will be carried out using overnight closures only, with signed diversion routes in operation.

Westbound traffic will be taken off at junction 16 onto westbound Dobbie’s Loan for southbound Garscube Road.

From here, traffic will travel westbound onto West Graham Street onto junction 17.

The junction 15 loop on-slip from A803 southbound is also closed.

Traffic will be diverted via Castle Street, onto Cathedral Street then onto Hanover Street for Cowcaddens road where traffic will then join the mainline diversion at Cowcaddens X.

Access for emergency service vehicles will not be maintained throughout these works.

Closure timings have been co-ordinated with bus services using the route, to maintain the regular service.

Public transport users have been urged to plan their journey and allow extra time for travel through the signed diversion.

And vehicles entering the LEZ as part of the diversion must follow the diversion signage at all times.

Any vehicles which deviate from the published diversion route may be issued with penalty charge notice(s) from Glasgow City Council should they be captured out with the agreed diversion route.

The works will be carried out in multiple phases throughout the year to complete all the maintenance.

We previously told how drivers in Glasgow are set for two more years of misery as repair works on Scotland's busiest motorway have been delayed.

The M8 Woodside Viaduct roadworks are now expected to be fully complete in 2026.
