Though she is happy with her body now, Grace Dudley’s story began with heartbreak.

Part of a close-knit family in Essex, she was just five years old when her sister Stacey, 13, was involved in an accident and never recovered.

Struggling to deal with the grief, her family where rocked by another sudden loss when her dad, Graham, fell ill over the pandemic.

Covid took its toll on the family and before long, the twenty-something Grace has also contracted the virus.

It wasn’t long until the pair of them were rushed to the hospital before being hooked up to ventilators and being put into medically induced comas.

Grace would awake a week later and be sent home, she would later received news that her dad had passed away.

Devastated by the loss, the now-thirty-something struggled with her grief and often turned to food for comfort.

She later told Closer Magazine: “My life turned into just sitting there, crying and eating. I was ordering four takeaways a day, starting with McDonald's breakfast, followed by KFC for lunch then Domino’s pizza for dinner.

“I’d still be up at 3 am ordering a kebab. I ate until I was so stuffed, I passed out.”

With this, her weight rapidly increased from 19st to 27st.

It was only when her legs gave out in the kitchen that she began to take control of her life and booked a gastric bypass in Turkey.

Despite the risks, she was determined to go ahead with the procedure.

She later told the magazine: “I booked my surgery the same day. Either I’d die on the table, and I didn’t care, or it would change my life."

With her mind made up, there was just the small issue of how to pay for the expensive surgery in Turkey.

Having initally seen the surgery on TikTok, Grace decided to use the app to raise the money for the op - even going live.

It didn't take long for her to earn over £3,000 with strangers generously donating to the proceedure.

She even managed to get enough to book in her older brother, Daniel, for veneers - not knowing how this decision would change her life forever.

Not long after they arrived in Turkey, her brother encouraged her to go for drink after he'd made friends with others at the dentist's.

Still incredibly anxious about her weight, Grace nearly didn't go and said: “I wasn’t keen. I’d only packed size 26 pjs and trackies…

"Daniel went shopping and came back with a pink T-shirt and black leggings. He even bought make up.”

Ironically, she didn’t need to feel unconfident as the casual drinks would result in her meeting Terry, her now partner.

“He was easy to chat to telling me it took a lot of courage to have my surgery. And he said I was beautiful already,” she gushed.

Touching down in the UK a week later, the couple went from strength to strenght and moved in together after just eight months.

Throught the difficult weight loss process, she'd continue to work on TikTok shop and recieve cruel comments about her figure.

Even after sharing her story on the app, she was still relentlessly targeted over her weight and her partner who was 'out of her league'.

Despite this, they are still together and Terry insists Grace is still as beautiful as the day he met her.

He later told Closer: “The truth is I thought Grace was beautiful from the day I met her in Turkey and she is the most loving, caring person I ever met. Grace is beautiful inside and out.”
