A group of petrified teens called police after claiming to have run into a "Bigfoot" while camping in a forest, according to officers.

The high school graduates, from Houma in southern Louisiana, were camping in Kisatchie National Forest - about 100 miles northwest of Baton Rouge - when they spotted "glowing eyes."

According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office, the teens claimed to have spotted a large animal that resembled "Bigfoot" shortly after setting up their tents around a mile and a half off Back Bone Trail in southern Natchitoches Parish.

One member of the terrified students called the police at around 9.20pm on June 28 after they reportedly “heard a growl and saw what appeared to be an animal that had glowing eyes and stood about 5-foot tall,” officers said.

The teens, who were all 17 and 18 years old, were able to get police to respond to the scene and walk to the campsite, searching for any mythological creatures. Deputies followed the sound of the whistles to the campsite and discovered the frightened teens.

The group was unharmed and safely escorted out of the forest by officers.

Despite the investigation, deputies were “unable to locate any suspicious activity involving a growl with glowing eyes and standing 5-feet tall,” the sheriff’s office said. Officers congratulated the teens on their graduation and wished them well in their futures.

It is not the first alleged sighting of Bigfoot in Kisatchie National Forest after two researchers, named “Tex-La” and Claude, claimed in 2019 that they had firm evidence of the creature's existence in the 600,000-acre woods.

The pair left camouflaged cameras and audio devices in the trees to try and find evidence of the creature which they later analyzed. In addition, they also claimed to have seen footprints and signs of Bigfoot "markings".

“It is what it is. If you choose to believe that’s great. If you choose not to believe, that’s great, too,” said Tex-La. “It’s something you have to approach with an open mind,” he admitted.

In October, a man and his wife were on holiday when they took a video of a creature they believed to be Bigfoot walking around in Colorado.

“Those who claim to have seen Bigfoot have described everything from a large, upright ape to an actual hairy human, sometimes standing over eight feet tall and described as powerfully built,” the Washington National Guard wrote in a post about the mythical creature.

“The debate and research continue,” it added.
