Lesbians Cast a Spell to Get Kehlani to Go to a Brooklyn Queer Night — and It Worked

Neither inclement weather nor Uber surge pricing could stop the will of these lesbians and their makeshift prayer circle.

Let’s manifest, lesbians! Apparently, the power of sapphic intention can truly accomplish anything, including summoning Kehlani themself to Misster Wednesdays at The Woods, a queer Brooklyn pop-up night whose mere mention strikes excitement (and perhaps ex-related panic) into the hearts of many NYC queers.

A viral TikTok posted on April 3 by Jakayla Toney (@rockstar.bartender) showed three sets of hands joined together around a white piece of paper. On it, Kehlani’s name was scrawled in black ink, surrounded by “The Woods” written in a smaller font.

The video’s audio chants: Escucha las palabras de las brujas. Los secretos escondidos en la noche. Los antiguos dioses invocamos ahora.

This roughly translates from Spanish to: Hear the words of the witches. The secrets hidden in the night. We invoke the ancient gods now.

“Us hoping Kehlani shows up for the lesbians at The Woods,” the video's caption reads. “PLEASE. I'M GOING IN THE RAIN JUST FOR YOU.”

Note: It was absolutely pouring in the city yesterday. But neither inclement weather nor Uber surge pricing could stop the will of these lesbians and their makeshift prayer circle. Perhaps it was written in the stars (or perhaps Kehlani saw they were tagged and decided to make a surprise visit), but regardless, their prayers were heard. A mere seven hours after posting the original TikTok, Toney posted another video, this time featuring Kehlani in all their lesbian glory, enjoying themselves at The Woods, specifically at Misster Wednesday, a weekly queer party that has long been a staple of sapphic nightlife in New York City.

“We manifested Kehlani coming to The Woods and it worked,” the caption reads. “BRO TONIGHT WAS WILD.”

Later, on their IG story, Kehlani shared a video that seems to confirm their presence at The Woods. (No location was tagged but I would recognize that background and mood lighting anywhere.) In the background, you can hear Kehlani’s latest single “After Hours” playing, which dropped at midnight.

“The one night I don't go, the rain was just too much yesterday,” one commenter said on TikTok.

“Crying screaming throwing up, I miss everything,” another lamented.

Much to the dismay of many queers who missed the event because of the rain, the moral of this story is to never miss Wednesday at The Woods, because you never know which celesbian may walk in out of the mist.
