What else could you want when your mother is Jenny from the Block and she respects your pronouns?

Jennifer Lopez introduced her 14-year-old child Emme Maribel Muñiz with gender neutral pronouns as they performed together at the Los Angeles Dodgers Blue Diamond Gala on Thursday. Though the performance happened last week, the news gained steam as a clip of the touching moment went viral after being shared by TikTok user @christinathesupermom over the weekend. In the video, Lopez uses “they” and “them” to refer to Muñiz.

“"The last time we performed together was in a big stadium like this," Lopez says in the viral clip. “And I ask them to sing with me all the time and they won't." She continued, “So this is a very special occasion. They are very, very busy. Booked. And pricey. They cost me when they come out. But they're worth every single penny because they're my favorite duet partner of all time."

After Lopez introduced Muñiz, they appeared on stage holding a rainbow microphone and dueted to Christina Perri’s hit, “A Thousand Years.” As of publication time, the clip has over 250,000 likes.

Lopez and her child have collaborated together before, on one of the world’s biggest stages, no less. They joined forces previously for the 2021 Super Bowl Halftime Show, an event that was chronicled in the brand new documentary Halftime, which follows the past few years in Lopez’s career, on Netflix.

Lopez has shown her support for the LGBTQ+ community several times, including when she received GLAAD’s Vanguard Award and executive produced the ABC Family show The Fosters, which centered on a biracial lesbian couple raising children.
