Cardi B Stunned the VMAs Red Carpet In a Gown Made Out of Hair Clips

Cardi B shimmered her way down the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards pink carpet Tuesday night in a custom gown from Turkish British designer Dilara Fındıkoğlu made almost entirely out of silver hair clips.

The best hip-hop nominee also sported a reflective manicure to match the eye-catching dress, complete with wrist cuffs that, frankly, seem like they might get caught on anything she touches. Perhaps that explains why the “WAP” artist had to be careful to keep the hair clips out of her hair, ironically enough, as she posed:

Cardi B was nominated Tuesday night for her GloRilla collaboration “Tomorrow 2,” but she also pulled double duty, performing her new single “Bongos” with Megan Thee Stallion. Notably, Cardi B’s husband Offset wore matching hair clips to complement his black suit:

“Bongos” marks a reunion for Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, ever since they broke the internet (and right-wingers’ brains) in 2020 with their unapologetically horny, undeniably homoerotic video for “WAP.”

Despite the fact that Cardi B has long been openly bi, she has to remind fans and followers of her queerness with a frustrating frequency that shouldn’t be necessary. In 2021, Cardi B shut down online claims of “queerbaiting” after her appearance in the intensely sapphic video for Normani’s “Wild Side,” writing on Twitter that she had already spoken “soo much about my bisexuality and my experiences wit girls.” And last September, when a Twitter user claimed that she had “never dated someone of the same gender,” Cardi responded in legendary fashion, writing, “I ate bitches out before you was born …..Sorry I don’t have razr phone pics to prove it to you.”

Let the hair clip dress put an end to it once and for all: only a bisexual person would wear an outfit that makes it impossible to sit in a chair.
