Recruiting: Which Florida players are scheduled to announce during the July 4 weekend?

Independence Day quickly has become Commitment Day.

Some of the top players in the state will be announcing their college decision either on July 4 or the days following.

The list is headlined by Mandarin safety Hylton "Drake" Stubbs, who is ranked No. 8 on the USA Today Florida Network top 100. Stubbs, who previously was committed to USC, is deciding between Florida and Miami.

Cocoa wide receiver Jayvan Boggs, ranked No. 16 on the top 100, also is announcing on Thursday. The former Ohio State commit is expected to choose between Missouri and UCF.

Here is a look at the players who are scheduled to announce their commitment in the next few days.

Mandarin S Hylton Stubbs

USA Today Florida Network top 100 rank: 8

Announcement date: July 4

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound All-American had 97 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, six interceptions, six pass breakups and three fumble recoveries in 2023, when he helped Mandarin reach the Class 4M state title game. Stubbs is down to two in-state schools: Florida and Miami.

Cocoa WR Jayvan Boggs

USA Today Florida Network top 100 rank: 16

Announcement date: July 4

Boggs helped Cocoa win its second consecutive Class 2S state title in 2023 when he caught 93 passes for 1,493 yards and 23 touchdowns and earned the prestigious Mr. Florida honor. The 6-foot, 200-pounder took official visits to UCF, USC, Georgia and Missouri in the past six weeks.

USA Today Florida Network top 100 rank: 66

Announcement date: July 4

Patterson, a 6-foot, 165-pound defensive back, recorded 19 tackles, three interceptions, four pass breakups, forced fumble and fumble recovery in 2023. He took official visits to Wake Forest and Iowa State in June.

USA Today Florida Network top 100 rank: 37

Announcement date: July 5

A strong receiver with big hands, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound Olugbode caught 31 passes for 561 yards and five touchdowns last season. The Illinois native has taken official visits to Washington, USC, Florida and Missouri

USA Today Florida Network top 100 rank: 62

Announcement date: July 6

Hudson has a final four list of Iowa, Iowa State, Maryland and UCF. The two-way lineman had 69 tackles, 27 tackles for loss and nine sacks in 2023 when Mainland won the Class 3S state championship.

Announcement date: July 6

Preston transferred to IMG before his junior season after spending two years at Hopewell (Virginia). The 6-foot, 187-pound defensive back took official visits to Florida, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech in June.
