Byline: DREW MacKENZIE in New YorkBRITNEY Spears found Justin Timberlake taking a shower while a blonde babe waited for him in bed, it has been alleged.
Britney flew into a jealous rage and that was the beginning of the end of their relationship, US magazine Star claimed.
The Britney lookalike in his king-size bed was said to be singer Tonya Mitchell, who was the opening act for *NSync's American tour last July.
Mitchell had allegedly been having a secret romance with 21-year-old Timberlake throughout his relationship with the pop princess.
A source said when Britney, 20, found Mitchell with Timberlake "she went berserk". The source added: "Britney threatened Tonya that if she ever caught her around Justin again there'd be a cat fight."
The affair exploded last summer during *NSync's tour after Britney called her then boyfriend Timberlake on his mobile phone.
Mitchell, 19, allegedly answered the call and brazenly blurted out that she was lying on his bed waiting for Timberlake to come out of the shower.
An *NSync insider said: "Justin had told Britney that rumours of his womanising were false and even when she saw pictures of Justin with girls all over him, she thought he was faithful.
"But when Tonya answered the phone in his room, she went absolutely ballistic.
"Britney and Justin ended up having a huge fight over Tonya and things were never the same between them after that."
Justin reportedly convinced Britney he was just good friends with Tonya - even though she admitted being in his bed.
But Britney later found out Timberlake had flown Mitchell down to his house in Orlando for the secret visit. The insider added: "Truth is the pair had been hooking up behind Britney's back for some time."
Timberlake and Mitchell first met in 1998 when his mother Lynn began managing Mitchell's promising singing career and she toured with the band.
Britney and Timberlake split up in March after dating since 1999.
