Blue Team RB Corey Russell (23) is brought down by Gold Team DT Devyn Jones (51) and DB Horacio Johnson (29) during Southern University’s Spring football game Saturday in Southern’s A.W. Mumford Stadium.

The Southern football team will play on the ESPN broadcast package four times, giving the Jaguars five appearances overall for the 2024 season, according to a schedule released by the Southwestern Athletic Conference on Wednesday.

The Jaguars will play on the streaming service ESPN+ in games at Jackson State (Sept. 14) and Prairie View (Sept. 21). The Jaguars’ homecoming contest against Alcorn State (Sept. 19) and game at Florida A&M (Sept. 26) will be shown on an ESPN platform to be determined later.

Those four games plus the Bayou Classic (Nov. 30) in the Caesars Superdome give Southern five broadcast opportunities. The Bayou Classic is broadcast by NBC.

The HBCU broadcast package opens Aug. 24 with the SWAC/MEAC Challenge on ABC at 7:30 p.m. in Atlanta and concludes with the SWAC championship game on Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. on ESPN2 and the Celebration Bowl on Dec. 14 at noon on ABC.
