A day after reports surfaced that starting tight end Juwan Johnson would need foot surgery, the New Orleans Saints added another tight end to their roster.

The Saints announced they signed former Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders tight end Jesper Horsted. In a corresponding move, New Orleans waived undrafted rookie free agent receiver Kyle Sheets.

Horsted has appeared in 41 games the past four seasons, totaling 14 catches for 131 yards and four touchdowns with the Bears and Raiders.

He joins a Saints tight end group that includes Foster Moreau, Michael Jacobson, Dallin Holker and Tommy Hudson. Taysom Hill, who has spent the offseason working at several positions, also could fill in more at tight end.
