As one of 32 NFL head coaches, New Orleans Saints coach Dennis Allen is part of a pretty exclusive fraternity, but his son Garrison Allen can now claim something his father can't: An IMDB credit in a hit movie.
Garrison Allen plays a brief role in the new Netflix film "Hit Man," appearing in the opening minutes of the film and delivering a line that made fun of the main character, Gary Johnson (played by Glen Powell).
The film is set in New Orleans, in which Powell is a University of New Orleans professor who freelances for the New Orleans Police Department as an undercover operative who poses as a hit man in sting operations. It is loosely based on a true story, though the real life Gary Johnson lived in Houston.
The opening scene shows Powell quoting a passage from Friedrich Nietzsche about living dangerously, and the scene closes with Allen leaning over to a classmate and saying under his breath, "Says the guy driving a Civic."
Richard Linklater directed and co-wrote the film with Powell, and it opened to widely positive reviews and big streaming numbers. According to a recent Variety report, "Hit Man" was watched an estimated 12 million times in its opening week on Netflix.
This is Allen's second acting credit, and his first in a feature film. He also appeared in Season 5, episode 2 of the series "Queen Sugar."
