Already scheduled to play Florida State in the ACC/SEC Challenge this season, the LSU men's basketball team has picked up another game from the newly expanded league.

Actually, LSU will play a two-game, neutral-site series against SMU, according to game contracts. SMU became an ACC member Monday, while Cal and Stanford will join the league on Aug. 2.

LSU and SMU will meet this season at Dickie's Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, on Dec. 14 to start the series. The venue is about 41 miles west of the SMU campus in Dallas.

The Tigers and Mustangs will also play in the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans during the 2025-26 season with the date to be determined by Feb. 1.

The two schools last met on the basketball floor in 2014 with SMU downing LSU 80-67 in Dallas in a second-round NIT contest. The Mustangs hold a 3-2 edge in the all-time series.

LSU coach Matt McMahon now has 10 of his 13 nonconference games set although the opponents in the Greenbrier Tip-Off event have not been set.

The Tigers will play two of the other three teams in the field for the Nov. 22 and 24 tournament — Pitt, Wisconsin and UCF.

In addition to those games and the SMU contest, the Tigers will host UL-Monroe (Nov. 6), Northwestern State (Nov. 29), Florida State (Dec. 3), Florida Gulf Coast (Dec. 8), UNO (Dec. 22) and Mississippi Valley State (Dec. 29).

LSU will also face Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas, to complete the home-and-home series they started in December in Baton Rouge. The date for this year's game has not been announced.
