Beach volleyball athletes Taryn Kloth, left, and Kristen Nuss stand together, Friday, June 7, 2024, at Mango’s in Baton Rouge.

Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth are on a tear going into the Paris Olympics.

The former LSU beach volleyball All-Americans won their last pre-Olympic tune up Sunday, prevailing in three sets over fellow Americans Megan Kraft and Terese Cannon 19-21, 21-15, 15-11 in the final of the Gstaad Elite 16 tournament in Gstaad, Switzerland.

It was the third straight trip to the finals of a Beach Pro Tour event for Nuss (New Orleans) and Kloth (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) and second straight victory after a win in Portugal in June. The pair dropped only two sets in six matches in Gstaad and have won 17 of their past 19 matches on the pro circuit overall.

Nuss and Kloth are the world’s No. 2 ranked duo and seeded No. 2 going into the Olympic tournament. They will open play in Paris at 8 a.m. CDT July 27 in Group B pool play against Canada, one day after the opening ceremony. The women's Olympic beach volleyball competition runs through Aug. 9.
