The awards continue to roll in for Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Daniels, who claimed almost every major award after a record-setting 2023 season with LSU, was named Tuesday the Southeastern Conference Male Athlete of the Year.

The award, which is named for former SEC commissioner Roy Kramer, is voted on by the league's athletic directors.

It’s the second consecutive year an LSU athlete has claimed the award. Daniels follows Dylan Crews, who won the honor last summer after leading Jay Johnson's baseball team to a national title.

Daniels is the eighth LSU athlete to take the conference's top on-the-field honor.

Other winners were Crews (2023, baseball), Joe Burrow (football, 2020), Susan Jackson (gymnastics, 2010), Xavier Carter (track and field, 2006), Seimone Augustus (women's basketball, 2006), Walter Davis (track and field, 2002), and Shaquille O’Neal (men's basketball, 1991 and 1992).

Florida distance runner Parker Valby, who recently made the U.S. Olympic team, was named the SEC Female Athlete of the Year.

Daniels is the only player in FBS history to rush for 200 yards and pass for 350 yards in a game, which he did in a win over Florida in Tiger Stadium last November.

That evening, he set an SEC record for total offense in a single game with 606 yards (234 rush, 372 pass) in a 52-35 blasting of the Gators.

The consensus All-American was the player of the year in the SEC and also earned top honors from the Walter Camp Foundation, Associated Press and Sporting News in addition to the Heisman, Davey O’Brien, Manning and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm awards.
