Sure, you can catch live music in bars and restaurants around town, but during spring and fall, two series offer free outdoor concerts.

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge presents Sunday in the Park, and just wrapped up its spring slate of shows.

Live After Five's Friday concerts kick off at 5 p.m., hosted by the Downtown Business Association.

After taking a break this week, three more Live concerts remain this spring as follows:

  • May 10: The Original Pinettes — The Pinettes are an all-female brass band made up of New Orleans born-and-raised musicians. The band has performed at many venues and events around the area, as well as traveled abroad to play in Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara, Turkey, and the Ascona Jazz Fest in Ascona, Switzerland.
  • May 17: Bucktown Allstars — New Orleans Tourism terms the AllStars "an institution" in the city. The horn-heavy party band's repertoire includes classic R&B, '60s hits, '70s funk and Crescent City flavors.
  • May 24: Michael Foster Project — The Baton Rouge-based brass band performs everything from traditional jazz to Latin, pop and hip-hop. The band formed in the late 1990s.
