A local man has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his sister.

Brennan Post, 33, was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Ventura County Superior Court.

According to police, Post shot his sister, 25-year-old Cassidy Snow, in the early morning hours of Feb. 17 in their parents’ home on Sandra Court in Newbury Park.

Snow was a 2015 graduate of Newbury Park High School and worked for iPermit, a duct testing and permitting company based in Westlake Village.

Colleagues of the victim have started a Go-FundMe page to raise money for a charity working in suicide prevention, a cause that was near and dear to Snow’s heart.

“Unfortunately, we have lost a beautiful soul, amazing person and one of the hardest working people we know,” a co-worker wrote on the page.

A 911 call from inside the Sandra Court home brought Ventura County sheriff’s deputies to the residential street near Borchard Road and Wendy Drive around 1:10 a.m. Feb. 17.

Snow was found in her bedroom and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

As of Wednesday at noon, the Ventura County medical examiner’s office had not released an official cause of death.

Post was arrested without incident. Police recovered the weapon thought to have been used in the shooting, TOPD said.

Law enforcement has not said what motivated the attack.

Post, who has no criminal record in Ventura County, is being held on $2-million bail.

If convicted, he’s facing life in prison.
