Keller Slotnick of de Toledo High of West Hills committed to play college baseball at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia.

Slotnick, an outfielder/first baseman/pitcher who lives in Oak Park, overcame major arm injuries to become the first Division II baseball commit in de Toledo history.

“My goal has always been to play baseball for as long as possible and at the highest level possible,” Slotnick said in a news release. “Arm injuries have always been an obstacle for me, and I’ve had many moments where I thought I’d never get healed. With those challenges, though, I kept pushing through and persevering. Tons of physical therapy, doctor’s appointments, and countless hours in the athletic trainer’s office at de Toledo have gotten me through (a big shout out and thank you to Hubert Paz for always helping become my best self on and off the field). . . .

“My teammates have always pushed me and supported me, as has the de Toledo baseball coaching staff. My coaches believed in me and allowed me to reach my full potential.”
