Young & Restless’ Courtney Hope denied entry to Emmys party as star reveals sneaky way she got back in
A scuffle with security made the soap opera star's real life just as dramatic as the one on screen
EVERY Hollywood star dreams of being nominated for and ultimately winning a coveted acting award.
Courtney Hope found out the hard way that nowadays, however, even award-winning celebrities can be hard to recognize, and taking home a trophy won't automatically guarantee an actor's future success or fame.

Courtney Hope is an actress who works primarily on television shows, made-for-TV movies, and video games.
Hope got her big break on Walker, Texas Ranger in 2000, and has since appeared in episodes of Joan of Arcadia, Grey's Anatomy, CSI: Miami, Criminal Minds, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Bones, and Transparent.
She was also previously "married," or in a long-term relationship with General Hospital star Chad Duell, throwing a gothic-themed celebration on their wedding day.
She is best known and recognized for her portrayal of the fictional character Sally Spectra on two iconic soap opera series, The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) and The Young and the Restless (Y&R).

In 2021, Hope's portrayal of Spectra on B&B earned her a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

In 2024, her portrayal of Spectra on Y&R won her a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
The 2024 Daytime Emmys kicked off on June 7, and shortly after winning her coveted award, Hope was ready to partake in the night's festivities.
“I love getting to celebrate with everyone and seeing who’s there and what they are wearing,” Hope told Soap Opera Digest.

“I just enjoy the whole experience and it was nice to be able to have that."

"I brought [my Emmy] with me to the party and ate. Then somebody mentioned that last year, someone’s Emmy [statuette] got taken."
"So, I was like, ‘Okay, I’m bringing this back to my [hotel] room,'” she added.
Hope then recalls running back to her hotel suite and dropping off her statuette.

When she got back to the party, she realized she had made two major mishaps.
She had washed her hands in her hotel room, rubbing off the party's stamp.
“When I put my hand under the black light [scanner], they were like, ‘Oh, you can’t come in, you don’t have a stamp,’” she recalled, noting the event's tight security.
She had also switched out her purse for another, leaving behind her party ticket.
"I’m like, ‘I was just here!’ But the [security] guy who saw me leave the party was no longer there."

"So, I asked [the new security guard], ‘What am I supposed to do? Go all of the way back to my room?’"
As it turns out, there was no need for Hope to return to her hotel.
"All of a sudden, someone comes out of the party and was like, ‘Congratulations!’"
"I said, ‘Thank you so much,’ and I didn’t mean to be pompous, but I looked at the security guards and said, ‘I literally won an Emmy tonight and I was just in there,’ but he goes, ‘Sorry.’"

"And then someone else comes out and congratulated me, and then the two security guards are both contemplating it and I’m thinking ‘I’ll have to go back to my room.’"
Just as she was starting to lose hope, that coveted award she snagged earlier in the night came in handy.
Several of the party's attendees were quick to continue congratulating the star on her win, finally convincing security she was a bonafide best actress.

"And then two people walk out and said, ‘Congratulations. Your speech was amazing.’"
"And I turned to the security guards and said, ‘Come on guys, really?’ And they both finally said, ‘Okay, fine. You can go in.’"

Despite her initial nerves and disappointment, Hope says she can now look back on the incident and laugh.
“Now I can say that what happened to me was really funny," she said.
