AMERICAN Idol has not yet decided if they are bringing back last season's judges.

Katy Perry announced last season that she would not be coming back so she could focus on her music and touring career.

ABC is searching for Katy's replacement, but they might be looking for a whole new cast lineup come Season 23.

“It’s been interesting," Luke, 47, told Billboard.

“It’s been something Disney been really tightlipped about with me and Lionel [Richie] and Ryan [Seacrest]."

"We currently haven’t heard what the story is on who’s coming back, and if Lionel and I are coming back," he continued.

"I think Disney is just trying to figure out what they want to do and we’re just kind of sitting back and waiting until they decide.”

Luke, Lionel, 75, and Katy, 39, have been judges on American Idol since the show was revamped on ABC for Season 16.

Ryan, 49, has been the host since Season 1.

KATY'S REPLACEMENT?

Even though Luke doesn't know about his fate on Idol, he still offered some suggestions on who he would like to replace Katy.

“I’ve said several names. I think P!nk has been in the talks, Miley Cyrus has been in the talks, Meghan Trainor has been in the talks," he told Billboard.

P!nk, 44, told Entertainment Tonight she would not be interested in the job because she "doesn't want to hurt people's feelings."

Meghan, 30, expressed that she would love to be a judge on the show.

During a June appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the singer said that judging Idol would be her "dream job."

"I've done every interview in the world and said that that is my dream job and I have emailed three awesome people who work in that world," Meghan revealed.

She  added, however, that those people "don't really have the full say but I begged."

A source for the competition show told The U.S. Sun that executives are eyeing Miley, 31, for the job.

Other names like Adele and Kelly Clarkson have been thrown into the ring.

However, Kelly, 42, told Entertainment Tonight that Idol wouldn't be a good fit for her.

"No. No. I can't do that, only because I promised my kids. I was like, 'I wanna be there as much as I possibly can," she told the outlet.

"And it would put me in L.A., and that's why I had to quit The Voice, which I love that team. And I miss them so much."

Kelly moved her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, to New York, this season.

THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY

Before Season 22 began, Katy made the shocking announcement that she would not return in 2025.

She told the crowd and host on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

"This fall, in September, I'm going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio," Katy said without warning.

"So I think this will probably be my last season for Idol."

When the crowd gasped, the singer added, "I mean, I love Idol so much.

"It's connected me with the heart of America, but I need to feel that pulse of my own beat."

Jimmy asked her what her fellow judges thought of her decision and she said they would find out when they watched the interview.
