But despite the bad blood, McGregor still backed Diaz to beat Jorge Masvidal in their boxing rematch.

The Irishman lumped on £390,000 and won back £1.2m after Diaz beat Masvidal on points.

Diaz was told about McGregor's wager and subsequent winnings at the press conference but he just replied: "That's cool."

Laughter broke out in the room as McGregor later posted: "I make ya so much money you can swim in it!"

Diaz, 39, famously became the first to beat McGregor, 35, in the UFC with a submission win in March 2016.

But he lost the rematch five years later and a trilogy bout has since failed to materialise.

Meanwhile, Diaz has crossed over to boxing and lost his debut to YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in August 2023,

But he bounced back with victory over Masvidal, 39, who had won their initial 2019 fight.
