Local police chief Vitor Dutra said that the accident took place after the teenager was overtaking when he crashed head-on into the motorcycle carrying the bodybuilder.

It is understood that Cavalcanti died at the scene.

Parents of the teenager were reportedly unaware that their son had taken their vehicle to go on a joyride with two other minors aged 15 and 17.

They were taken to hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries after the horror crash.

Cops said that the 17-year-old could be treated as an adult and be charged with a crime similar to homicide.

Tributes for the champion bodybuilder started to pour in from all over the world.

The International Federal of Bodybuilders for the state of Parana said on social media: "It is with great sadness that we announce that our PRO SUPPORT athlete, Andre Cavalcanti, passed away this morning in a motorcycle accident.
