And the pair teamed up to cover Novak Djokovic's fourth-round thashing of Holger Rune on Centre Court.

But rather than their expertise, analysis or risky comments previewing the match with Clare Balding, it was Kyrgios' choice of clothes that attracted the most attention.

Because despite it being the middle of summer in England - albeit a very wet one - Kyrgios was decked out in a massive Stone Island jacket.

He completed the look by wearing a cap, too, with the word "gifted".

And tennis fans flooded X with hilarious responses to the gear from Kyrgios, whose homeland Australia is currently in the middle of winter.

One said: "Of course Nick Kyrgios is wearing a big puffer coat as it is the middle of July."

Another wrote: "Kyrgios, wearing his cap and Stone Island coat, punditing with John McEnroe. Wimbledon coverage is unrivalled."

A third added: "Everyone at Wimbledon: suit, smart dress. Nick Kyrgios: big Stone Island puffer coat. Love it."

A fourth typed: "Big fan of Kyrgios rocking up for a commentary stint in a Stone Island jacket."

And a final user replied: "Nick Kyrgios with his Stone Island coat, what a guy haha."

The BBC were forced to defend their decision to appoint Kyrgios after he admitted assaulting his ex-girlfriend but was spared a criminal record in court.

However, while on the mic, he has proven an insightful, honest and enthusiastic addition to the BBC team.

Kyrgios could not help but join in the drama surrounding Taylor Fritz's bitter spat with Arthur Rinderknech as the American appeared to tell his defeated opponent to "have a nice flight home".

But the Aussie shut down a conversation about rowdy crowds - as co-commentator Andrew Castle brought up the incident with a loud fan during the 2022 final.

Kyrgios - who hit with Djokovic on the practice courts at Wimbledon on Sunday - said: "Aww, no! We can't mention that, I'll get in trouble!"
