THE United States basketball team for the Paris Olympics is a star-studded one and fans are reveling in it.
A host of superstars will attempt to win gold for the US team in France, including LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and Joel Embiid.

The official Twitter feed of USA Basketball posted a selection of pictures on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, as the team prepares for the Games in Las Vegas.
"Dude, we're getting the band back together," was the message accompanying the pictures.
The post has already attracted more than one million views.
And fans have been quick to have their say in response.

"Really the last ride with legends we grew up on. Damn near feels surreal," one fan said.
"This team is stacked can’t wait to see them drop teams off," another fan said.
"Annoyed at how excited i am to watch this team," a third fan posted.

At recent Games, a number of stars tend to sit out the action.
This roster for Paris is perhaps the best since the "Redeem Team" at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.
The United States will be particularly determined to land gold in the basketball competition in Paris.
The US only finished in fourth place at last year's World Cup.
Germany beat Serbia in the final, while Canada beat the US to claim third place.

"Obviously, last year we didn't do what we wanted to do," Tyrese Haliburton said.
"And that was frustrating because any time you get to represent USA Basketball, the expectation is to win. And we weren't able to do that."
LeBron, 39, is playing in his first Olympics since the 2012 Games in London.
